Values

Noon is a Helsinki-based architectural practice with a special emphasis on existing environments. We are dedicated to accelerating the development of regenerative architecture and the green transition through design. We recognise the value and potential of what already exists and prioritise the repair, care and adaptive transformations of buildings. Our aim is to create meaningful buildings and spaces, regardless of the size of the task. We strive to design places that people cherish and are committed to preserving for centuries to come.

Practice

Noon is a design and research studio founded by architects Meri Wiikinkoski and Anssi Lauttia. Based in Finland, the studio operates both in Nordic countries and across Europe.

Prior to establishing Noon, both Lauttia and Wiikinkoski have gained extensive experience in award-winning and high-quality architectural projects. They have been studying and collaborating in many design and architecture projects not only in Finland, but also abroad. As a result, their work often has a hint of Japanese harmony, Swiss sophistication and Danish playfulness enriching Finnish, timeless and functional design.

Noon is a reliable partner with years of experience in managing design projects. We work with the latest BIM softwares and have our own, high quality design standard system. We have vast experience in all phases of a building project - from competition and conceptual design to detailed design and site supervision. Our strong experience of working with users, developers, building permission authorities and the Finnish Heritage Agency [Museovirasto] is a valuable asset in the planning process.

Design services offered by Noon include:

  • Ecologically, socially and economically sustainable architecture and building design: renovation, adaptive transformations, circular economy, sustainable new construction, timber construction

  • Building permits, construction documents, principal designer services [Rakennusluvat, työpiirustukset, pääsuunnittelu]

  • User, client and authority collaboration, participatory design and workshops

  • Conceptual design, urban planning, design competitions
