Renovation and spatial reorganisation of a late 1980s postmodern educational building.
Saarnisto School and Kindergarten in Uusikaupunki was designed by architect Heikki Taskinen in 1989. The building houses a primary school, a kindergarten and parish facilities, and represents a distinctive form of late 1980s postmodern architecture.
The project focuses on the renovation and reorganisation of the existing building to meet current educational needs. Rather than transforming the building completely, the approach is to identify and strengthen its existing qualities through careful repair, adaptation and spatial adjustments.
